Polar bears are going to become extinct due to the fact that cubs are not surviving into adulthood. The lack of food is leading to cubs to become skinny and unable to survive for themselves making them more likely to die. Also, adult male polar bears have turned to cannibalism to survive, eating other polar bears to store more food and live. Polar bears that are surviving sometimes die on the swim to get to the ice caps to hunt for food. Ice is forming further and further away from shore making polar bears having to swim further, because polar bears already don't have enough stored energy the swim there has killed many.
Polar bears live North of the Arctic Circle and up to the North Pole in the winter. This is where they primarily live on ice caps and hunt seals to store fat for the summer. When the ice caps begin to melt polar bears move to coast lines such as Alaska, Canada, Russia, Greenland, and Northern islands owned by Norway. On these coast lines there is no source of food for Polar Bears which is why they relay on stored food. However, with shorter winters and longer summers the balance doesn't work, less time for polar bears to store food and longer amounts of time stored food is needed leads to starving polar bears. Polar bears were listed as the first animals endangered because of global warming this is because their habitats are being destroyed by the melting of the ice caps.
Polar bears are at a risk of becoming extinct due to global warming. Their habitats, which are the polar ice caps, are being destroyed by melting due to warming temperatures. Polar bears are having to swim further and further to find an ice cap to hunt seals on. Seals are a polar bears main food source, without the ice caps they are unable to feed and many are starving. Melting ice is also coming sooner the summers are longer and winters are shorter leaving polar bears less time to store food to hold them off.
